Missing 3-Year-Old Boy In New Waverly Forest

Authorities are looking for a missing 3-year-old boy who wandered away from a campsite near New Waverly Saturday afternoon.

Firefighters and Walker County officers are currently searching the Sam Houston National Forest near the Stubblefield Lake area.

Authorities said the child's name is Ezra and he was last seen wearing a red shirt and blue shorts.

The campsite where the boy was last seen was in a remote area and was not a formal campsite.

Officials have not yet asked for search volunteers as they are working with K9's in the search.

In a press conference held at the scene at 9 p.m. Saturday, officials said they do not want to flood the forest with different scents so as not to confused the dogs assisting in the search effort.
