The Shorecrest boys soccer team defeated Edmonds-Woodway Thursday evening, 4-2, and with the win the Scots have qualified for the 3A State Championship tournament that will begin next week.

But before State starts, the Scots (9-6-4) will play Squalicum (17-1-1) for third and fourth place in District One at Shoreline Stadium. Game time Saturday has been moved up to 3pm to accommodate Squalicum's Prom Night.

Shorecrest needed to come from behind against E-W to keep their season alive. After the Warriors scored with 5:00 to play in the first half, Adrian Ortega tied the score with under a minute to go in the half.

Ortega took a long pass from teammate Elliot Misic and sneaked it past the Warriors' keeper.

"I saw Adrian deep down the right side and was able to get him the ball.  His shot was beautiful, perfect," said Misic. "The timing couldn't have been any better.  His goal gave us a big lift."

SC took the lead for good on a controversial free kick by Noah Trostle with just two minutes into the second half.

"I saw their defenders with their backs turned, thinking time had been called, and their keeper was all the way over by the left post," Trostle said after the game. "There was a huge opening on the right and I made the shot."

Misic scored the Scots' final two goals, one on a perfect pass from Ricardo Ruiz.

"I saw Ricardo take it down the line. I sprinted toward the goal, and he put the ball right on my toe," a sweaty but happy Misic beamed afterwards.

After the Warriors scored on a penalty-kick following a handball in the box to make it 3-2 SC, Misic scored again with under twenty minutes to play.

"I was just outside the box and I one-timed it. It deflected off a defender and went in. Sometimes you just get lucky," said Misic.

Shorewood was eliminated on Thursday in the late game, losing to Squalicum 5-1.

Lynnwood will face Snohomish  at 7pm at Shoreline Stadium for the District Championship.
