The Constitution of Norway was signed at Eidsvoll on May 17, 1814, declaring Norway to be an independent kingdom. Official celebrations have been held since 1833.

Syttende Mai (literally, "17 May") has been an important tradition in Ballard since 1974 (and in Seattle since 1889), drawing Norwegians from all over Puget Sound.

Local Norwegians were at the parade but no one sent photos this year - so a Norwegian family member came through - thank you Lene Ellingsen Carpp!
