The Monahans Police Chief is apologizing to a bicyclist and her family following an erroneous report.
On Saturday 33-year-old Myranda Williams was training for a triathlon riding her bicycle along Business 20 when she was hit by a car from behind.
According to her family, Williams struck the car's windshield and her arms were partially amputated. She was airlifted to Medical Center Hospital where doctors were able to save both of her arms.
As of Monday, Williams remained fighting for her life at the hospital with family at her side.
An initial report of the crash cited that Williams was in the wrong, and that the driver of the car was not at fault for the crash. On Tuesday, Monahans Police Chief William Riley reached out saying that the report was wrong.
According to Chief Riley, Williams not at fault as she was within her lane and instead the driver, Mark Barker, was actually in the wrong.
