Sword Carrying Will Be Legal Soon In Texas

Texas residents who've dreamed of walking around sporting their favorite sword will have their wish granted starting this fall.

According to KZTV10, as of September 1, state knife laws are changing, replacing previous rules that limited blade length to 5.5 inches and prohibited specialty blades such as double-edged knives.

Under the new law, however, swords, daggers, double-sided blades, sabers, bowie knives, machetes and more will be legal to carry in most areas of the state.

There are some exceptions, though. The new laws won't apply in certain areas such as schools, prisons, hospitals, amusement parks, places of worship and sporting events. Bars will also be prohibited areas.
