THE Deputy Minister for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Annastazia Wambura, said government will continue to sponsor the development of sports in the country.
She said this yesterday at the National Indoor Stadium, Dar es Salaam during the closing ceremony of the 4th International Chinese Wushu Competition Tanzania 2017.

“The development of sports will help to reduce unemployment problems in the country hence enabling people to manage their lives well,” Wambura said.

Wambura seized the opportunity to urge companies and organizations in the nation to sponsor various sports activities offered in the country, a thing she said will promote development and love among people.

“I hope that one day, Tanzania will win international medals from the sport of Wushu,” she said. The highly contested competitions attracted teams from China, Rwanda and the hosts Tanzania.

In the category of Taolu Qiang Shu, Hayugimana Emanuely from Rwanda emerged the winner after collecting 4.69 points ahead of Abdallah Mneka and Bizimana Gerard who registered 4.64 points and 4.61 points respectively.

Another competitive category was Chang Quan whereby Uswege Mwaseba sealed 4.8 points, followed by Abdullah Mneka who got 4.7 points as Omary Tandai and Saidi Livingston both shared 4.6 points and were at number three.

In Shaolin Quan, Brighton Ngowo got 4.9 points while Masatu Augustino and Alfani Karim collected 4.8 and 4.5 points in that order.



Much competition was seen in the category of Taiji Quan as Ngusa Wiliam emerged tall having attained 4.88 points beating Athumani Begeja and Kunza Bamdu who together registered 4.73 and 3.78 points to occupy second and third spots respectively.

As if this was not enough, the phase of Nan Quan brought many surprises to the spectators. Emmanuel Hayugimana accumulated maximum points of 4.86 enabling him to lead the category.

The second and third positions were filled by Bizmana Gerald and Shema Patrek as they got 4.79 and 4.77 points. In Jian Shu, Ibrahim Ramatu was the first after winning 4.67 points ahead of Yusuphu Upinde and Ana-Stadhia Maison who collectively scooped 4.57 and 4.39 points.

Another heavily contested category on the day was Taulo Qita where the top three participants were separated by a single point as Masatu Augustino leaped 4.79 points while his closet challenger Athumani Begeja got 4.78 points.

The third post was filled by Brighton Ngowo as he yielded 4.77 points. Among the foreign teams which took part in the competition were from Rwanda and China.
