Shoreline Police responded to a report of a burglary to an apartment in Ballinger Commons complex on N 205th just before noon on Monday.
A neighbor who witnessed the burglary called when she saw a suspect knock on a neighbor's apartment - then when no one answered the suspect went around to the balcony to enter the apartment.
Deputies and K-9 arrived just after the suspect fled and were unable to locate him. They know at least two apartment units were broken into and believe he may have attempted to gain entry into other apartments.
The suspect is described as a black male, 25-30 years old, 5’9” to 5’10” tall with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a light gray hoody, dark blue jeans with a design on the back pockets.
The neighbor who called 911 more than likely prevented other burglaries from occurring and the suspect had to flee from before being able to take some of the loot he had staged to remove.
Police applaud the quick action of the neighbor and remind others to do the same and call 911 if they see suspicious activity like this.
Neighbors at the large Ballinger Commons complex are now in discussions about starting a Shoreline Watch. For information about this, contact Officer Paula Bates, 206-801-2764.
