Singer Selena Gomez Had Kidney Transplant

One of Selena Gomez's best friends has given her the gift of life.

According to The Blast, Gomez received a kidney transplant earlier this summer after her friend Francia Raisa discovered she was a perfect match for the surgery.

The famous singer announced in 2015 she was diagnosed with lupus. She took a break the following year from her world tour to address some of the complications related to the autoimmune disease.

She announced she underwent chemotherapy as part of her treatement.

Her family wasn't coming back as a match for the life-saving procedure, but Raisa - an actress also in the entertainment industry - was able to step in to help.

The Blast reports Gomez successfully recovered, and has been attending events at New York Fashion Week to promote a new handbag for Coach. #SelenaGomez
