Benjamin Avelar Was Killed When He Was Hit By 2 Vehicles In Bastrop

The Bastrop Police Department is investigating a double hit and run after which the victim succumbed to his injuries, police said.

According to police reports, the victim, identified as 23-year-old Benjamin Avelar, was walking northbound on State Highway 95 near Fairvew Cemetery on Monday night when he was struck by the first vehicle heading north. Police said the victim was later struck by a second vehicle heading north, neither of which stopped to give him aid.

The victim was taken via ambulance to a local hospital with extensive injuries and later transferred to Dell Seton Hospital in Austin where he died, police said. KVUE
