Jaquan Hemphill Scored 8 TD's In One Game

Hardin-Simmons University junior running back Jaquan Hemphill ran for a school-record 293 yards and scored eight touchdowns as HSU defeated East Texas Baptist 80-42 in American Southwest Conference action at Ornelas Stadium.

Hemphill had seven rushing touchdowns on runs of 1, 4, 1, 4, 89, 3 and 78 yards and then added a 64-yard touchdown reception. His eight TDs tied the school and ASC record and his 48 points tied the NCAA record of 48. The seven rush TDs was a school and ASC record. His 357 total yards broke his old school record of 342. In all, he broke or tied 11 HSU, ASC and NCAA records.

The game was a battle of unbeatens and the Cowboys exploded for 806 yards and 80 points and ETBU countered with 656 yards.

Hemphill had TD runs of one, four and one yards in the first quarter and HSU led 21-7 after the first quarter. KTXS
