Joe Clowers (Union Grove) Killed 400+ Pound Wild Feral Hog On His Property
Most locals know that wild hogs are a huge problem in Texas, especially in rural areas, and they are increasingly invading even more developed suburbs.
This week, a man named Joe Clowers in Union Grove, Texas killed a 416-pound wild hog that had been wreaking havoc on his property.
Texas is home to the largest feral hog population in the United States, with an estimated 4 million hogs statewide. It's safe to say that hogs are one of the most hated animals in Texas along with mosquitoes, fire ants, bed bugs, snakes and rats.
At least you can kill and eat most everything from a hog. The same can't be said of those other vermin.
The wild hogs that mildly terrorize Texans are the progeny of domestic hogs and European wild hogs from way back when.
Texas' feral hogs are omnivores with a nondiscriminatory palate. Since they will eat anything hunters looking to bait them into certain areas can use most anything edible.
The hog was taken down with an AR-15, according to Clowers, and shared that the hog had been a constant nuisance for five years.
He had preyed on the fawns in the area and Clowers added that he always stayed armed when visiting his deer feeders in case the hog in question charged him. CHRON
