Letter to the Editor: Car and bike safety
To the Editor:
Today I witnessed a car turning without using their turn signal and hitting a young man on his bicycle. The car was a white Mazda with a bike rack and bike on the back.
The driver of the car briefly stopped, but took off without finding out if the biker was injured. I was a witness and by the time I had turned around to see if the biker was hurt and needed help, the car had disappeared.
Please do the right thing and turn yourself in to the Shoreline Police. I only regret that I did not get your license number.
This took place on Monday, October 2 at 2 pm. Both the biker and the car were heading east on N. 185. The car turned south on Meridian. The biker was in a marked bike lane following the rules.
With all the new bike lanes in Shoreline I urge everyone to be more careful, use their turn signals and check to make sure there is no one in the bike lanes before making turns.
