The Bell County Sheriff's Department is investigating after a man's body was found at Belton Lake Saturday morning.

Officials said the victim had a gunshot wound to the head.

The sheriff's department responded to Sparta Valley Park on Belton Lake around 8:00 a.m. after a fisherman said he found a dead body in the water.

An autopsy has been ordered.

The man was pronounced dead at 8:25 a.m. by Justice of the Peace Ted Duffield. KWTX
