On October 25th a man looking for recyclables in Austin, Texas dumpsters found a newborn baby. Today, police made an arrest in that case. Althea Johnson, age 27, was taken into custody and charged with abandoning a child.

The baby has since recovered and is in now living with a family who is also watching over her siblings, according to CPS. Something like this should never happen in Texas, because under the ‘Safe Haven Law’ a child can be dropped off at a ‘Safe Location’ with no questions asked.
