It was so exciting and refreshing to see the Houston Astros win the World Series this year. What made it even better was the fact most, so called, MLB experts did not think they had a chance against the Dodgers. What many baseball experts missed when trying to figure out who would win was the power of momentum.
Unlike football and other professional sports, baseball has always been a game for thinking types who appreciate stats above all else. However, when a team like the Astros make it all the way to the big series, there is much more to winning and losing than who has pitched the most strikeouts and what player has the best batting average.
The whole Houston (2017) story also played a role in that Astros victory. Only weeks after a major hurricane (Harvey) turned the streets of the nation’s fourth largest city into a lake, millions of people were looking for something positive to focus on and it turned out the Houston Astros were just the catalyst they needed to breathe new life into a major city.
Texas was ready to, once again, host a team who won a world championship and this year all of us are extremely proud of the Astros.
