Hopefully, an autopsy will shed additional light on what happened - because all that is known right now is that Denay Birnie crashed her car into a pole, police suspected she was under the influence and later she was found dead in her jail cell on Thursday morning. Her 2-year-old son was in the car at the time of the crash.

Police did take Birnie to a local Weatherford hospital, which cleared her before she was taken to jail. Maybe she was under the influence of a drug or she might have suffered some kind of medical emergency, which made it appear as though she was intoxicated, but was not. It’s impossible to know right now.
