Mika Brzezinski has apologized for calling Mike Pompeo “a wannabe dictator’s butt boy," which she admitted was a "SUPER BAD" choice of words. I agree. Pompeo is the butt boy to the butt boy of a REAL dictator.Michael Cohen just got three years, a bit less than I would have predicted. He'll do substantially less time if he continues to cooperate with Mueller.
Allow me to mention, once again, an instructive historical parallel. Cohen reminds me of a guy named Hugh Plunkett, who was the bag man and "fixer" for Ned Doheny, heir to the Doheny oil fortune. Plunkett's devotion to his boss was fanatical -- so much so, that some thought they had a sexual relationship.
In 1929, it became clear that the Dohenys (father and son) were going to use Hugh Plunkett as the fall guy for their own role in the Teapot Dome bribery scandal. On February 16, Plunkett -- realizing that he had played the fool -- shot Ned and then killed himself. The murder occurred in Greystone Mansion, which I often visited during my college days. You've seen the mansion in many movies; the private bowling alley shows up at the end of There Will Be Blood.
I've compared Cohen to Plunkett before; let's hope that this incarnation of the story has a happier ending. It is always better to "kill" your former boss politically, not literally.
Meanwhile: Can you resolve the lingering controversies over the other "cooperating" witnesses? I remain perplexed and disturbed by Butina, Flynn, Papadopoulos and Manafort, for reasons detailed in the preceding post.
