Police Have Closed Queen Isabella Causeway

The Queen Isabella Causeway is currently closed in both directions. According to the South Padre Island police chief, a phone call led to the shutdown.

South Padre Island Police Chief Randy Smith said they received the phone earlier today.

“Someone called and said the bridge may collapse. We asked them, ‘What do you mean?’ And they hung up,” he said.

Authorities responded to the scene and set a precautionary closure of the causeway.
