Hill County House Explosion Killed WWII Vet (94)
A 94-year-old World War II veteran was killed early Wednesday morning when a house exploded in Osceola, near Itasca, in Hill County.
The explosion was reported by a motorist on FM 934 who felt the earth shake and then saw the ruins of the house, authorities said.
Hill County Sheriff’s deputies and firefighters still were at the scene in the 1200 block of Hill County Road 934, about 10 miles northwest of Hillsboro.
Deputies said at about 4:30 a.m. an explosion rocked the house and left one resident dead.
The identity of the victim has not yet been released.
